STEELGROOVES

Steel Grooves is the creative concept and alter ego of Austin, Texas native Rex (RJ) Bruton - a fixture of the ATX underground since the mid-90s rave scene. On guitar from age 10, he cut his teeth on heavy and industrial metal - Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy - before the machines took over for good.

Since age 15 he has devoted himself to collecting, DJing and producing underground dance music, refining a signature "Steel + Groovy" aesthetic: raw industrial weight welded to relentless, funk-driven groove.

He is the founder of Capital Techno Recordings - the first international techno label to emerge from the ATX - named after Austin's public transit system. A four-year residency at Kingdom Nightclub anchored the long-running after-hours series Vibrations + Ohms, and his records have landed on labels across the globe with support from the scene's heaviest selectors.
